Hemlock Semiconductor(HSC), a division of Dow Corning, announced in December 2008 that they will be making a $1.2B investment by locating a silicon manufacturing facility in Clarksville. They will locate on a 2000 acre megasite just north of town off of Jim Johnson Road. Ground breaking will occur in early 2009.
When operational this facility will employ 500 people. As part of HSC's investment, they will grant Austin Peay State University $6.4M for a new building. As a result APSU will confer a 2 year associates degree in Silicon Technology.
Many cities worldwide competed for this factory. This will certainly serve Clarksville well for many years to come and only enhance the quality of life in our fair city!

With the national news of all the foreclosures and soft real estate market I felt like sharing with you the "state of Montgomery County" from real data. Enclosed are the number of homes that closed through a period of January 1st through November 30th in both 2006 and for the same period in 2007:
